At Texas Bernedoodles, we place a high priority on the health and happiness of each of our dogs, which is why we perform comprehensive health testing. Our Texas small Bernedoodle breeders are put through a battery of diagnostic procedures in order to verify that they are genetically sound. These tests include assessing the patient's hip and elbow scores, in addition to screening for a variety of genetic conditions, such as degenerative myelopathy, exercise-induced collapse, hereditary nasal parakeratosis, neonatal encephalopathy with seizures, progressive retinal atrophy, cone-rod dystrophy 4, progressive retinal atrophy, progressive rod-cone degeneration, von Willebrand disease type I, and improper coat. In addition, our dogs receive annual eye exams to ensure that their vision is in the best possible health.

We ensure that our breeding dogs are free of any potential diseases by subjecting them to extensive health testing. This not only ensures that our breeding dogs are healthy, but it also ensures that we will never have puppies with genetic problems like these. Even though testing for hip and elbow dysplasia cannot completely remove the chance of hip dysplasia, it is still the most effective tool we have for reducing the likelihood of breeding dogs who have genetic hip problems.
